Originally developed during 2003 and 2004, the following Bible reading schedule and corresponding study questions came from Pastor Larry Zahn from Alpharetta, GA. Pastor Zahn sent daily email messages with the daily reading and questions during this time. Since then and with his permission, we have compiled the daily readings and questions into what's presented here.

The Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments as the head of the family should teach them in a simple way to his household.

First Commandment

Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.

What does this mean? We should fear, love, and trust in God above all things.

Second Commandment

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord, thy God, in vain.

What does this mean? We should fear and love God that we may not curse, swear, use witchcraft, lie, or deceive by His name, but call upon it in every trouble, pray, praise, and give thanks.

Advent

Advent is the beginning of the Church year and, like Lent, it is a time of repentance. During Advent we prepare for the coming of Christ as the baby in Bethlehem, in His Word and Sacraments, and in the Day of Judgment when he will rescue us from this fallen world.
